mySAP ERP: An Integral Part of the mySAP Business Suite

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) functionality is a fundamental building block of all e-business solutions. SAP leads the market for ERP solutions, developed from years of industry experience with thousands of customers.

mySAP ERP serves to consolidate SAP.s position as market leader in ERP and standard business software. This software solution is based on the SAP NetWeaver integration and application platform that SAP introduced in January 2003.

SAP NetWeaver enables integration with Microsoft .NET environments and IBM WebSphere environments on the following three levels:

  • User level: Through a portal
  • Information level: Using business intelligence and knowledge management functions
  • Process level: Through the exchange infrastructure

mySAP ERP also supports mobile technologies.

To understand what ERP is, we need to define ERP functionality and e-business functionality.

ERP offers enterprise-centric functionality (general ledger, payroll, and order entry) to integrate internal core processes

  • Value is generated by internal efficiencies and optimization

E-business builds on ERP functionality and also offers the following:

  • Extended collaborative functions (e-recruitment and CRM campaign management, for instance)
  • Generated value through collaborative possibilities
  • Seamless integration into heterogeneous landscapes

This figure shows some of the key SAP R/3 functional areas and examples of extended functions that are available when you purchase a solution (such as mySAP SCM or mySAP HR).

For instance, in the area of HR, SAP R/3 covers the standard internal processes. The mySAP HR solution then offers additional collaborative functions, such as e-recruiting.

ERP not only incorporates Financial Accounting and Human Resources Management, it also contains elements from standard CRM, PLM, and SCM business processes.

Tailored industry solutions are composed of cross-industry solutions, infrastructure, and services, in addition to functions specific to that industry.
Each industry solution contains custom-developed functions based on proven business practice in that industry sector.
